The story.
BIRSH was established in 2018.
The purpose was to run small-scale productions.
This idea came from not only by knowing the struggle of young designers and creatives to find production companies that are prepared to run small-scale clothing productions but also from an ethical point of view. We work together with petit ateliers in Hungary where craftmanship is presented at an outstanding level. Our goal is to create an honest deal for both sides – garment workers on one side and customers on the other end of the chain.
Me.
I was born and raised in Hungary.
In my family craftmanship was an everyday activity.
My grandmother, like any other woman in her generation, has traditionally mastered the classical craftsmanship of a woman: weaving, embroidery, crocheting, sewing.
My father was uniquely attracted to and collected traditionally embroidered woven textiles. The traditional weaving craft mastered himself as well. His weaving machine was part of the house, like any other furniture.
My mother is a tailor and has been working her whole life in production. Sitting next to her many times, watching her in her atelier was exciting but relaxing at the same time.
Growing up in such an environment created unnoticed my love of textiles and garments.
This heritage put me in motion when I decided to follow their path, my path.
